Schedule: Full-Time: Monday – Friday 8:40am-3:20pm

Some Job Responsibilities:
Assist students in developing work readiness skills through participation in CDP’s career lab (PAES Lab), in-house jobs, and/or community-based internship sites.
Professionally represent the Center when providing job coaching support to students and interacting with employers at community-based job sites.
Document data on specific vocational/transition goals indicated on the student’s IEP and follow data collection guidelines.
Implement strategies listed in student behavior plans and guide students to communicate effectively using total communication including AAC devices or PECS.
Follow vocational schedules, routines, and organization.
Collaborate with team members, classroom staff, clinical staff, support staff, administration, families, etc.
Participate in all meetings, trainings, in-service, and professional development opportunities as assigned.
Substitute for Vocational Counselor to run PAES Lab or other vocational activities, as needed.

Position Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED;
NYS Assistant Teacher Certification;
There are currently three levels of certification:
Level I – requires a High School Diploma, School Violence Workshop, Child Abuse Workshop, Dignity Workshop (DASA), and fingerprint clearance.
Level II – includes all of the above plus nine semester hours of college and one year as a teacher assistant.
Level III – includes all of the above plus eighteen college credits and one year as a teacher assistant.
Valid NYS Driver’s License;
Must be able to perform physical activities such as (but not limited to); twisting, bending, crouching, pulling, pushing;
Must be able to sit, walk, drive, and stand for prolonged periods of time;
Able to lift 50 lbs.;
Good written and/or verbal communication skills;
Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities;
Experience with vocational and/or functional academics/life skills preferred.
