Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:40am-3:20pm
Some Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for evaluating students and developing goals for the student’s Individual Educational Plan.
Responsible for developing, differentiating appropriate lesson plans and educational activities to meet the individual educational needs of the students.
Supervise, assist and train, staff, teacher aides and substitute aides, in all activities, lessons, classroom management, and ADL skills, etc. All program planning and activity development and implementation should include all classroom staff acting as a unit.
Maintain classroom organization, follow classroom schedules, establish routines and maintain appropriate behavior, participate in crisis intervention, insuring that co-workers will provide safety for all students with minimal disruption of classroom activities.
Responsible for insuring that appropriate educational instruction is implemented by all program staff throughout the school day; during each lesson including instructional lunch and recreational activities.
Ensure that all necessary documentation student or Center business is efficiently and promptly documented. This includes, but not limited to, data sheet, progress reports, NY State Alternate Assessments, lesson plans, communication logs, treatment team summary sheets, Partnership Summary sheets, etc.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field;
NYS Certification in Special Education;
Valid NYS Driver’s License preferred;
Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred;
Must be able to perform physical activities such as (but not limited to); twisting, bending, crouching, pulling, pushing;
Must be able to sit, walk, drive, and stand for prolonged periods of time;
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
