Community Residence Counselor (Full-Time, Part-Time & Per Diem)

Location: Glen Cove Area, Nassau County, NY
Pay Rate: $23.34 per hour

CEC Healthcare is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to quality health and behavioral health services for underserved communities throughout Nassau County.

Our programs include medical and behavioral health clinics in Bethpage, Glen Cove, and Seaford; OMH community residences in the Glen Cove area; supportive apartments located throughout Nassau County; and community-based programs such as ACT, COMPHPS, and our CCBHC community outreach program.

We are seeking compassionate and dependable Community Residence Counselors to support individuals living in our community residences. In this role, you will help residents build independent living skills, maintain stability, and work toward personal recovery goals in a supportive and structured environment.

Schedules may include day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct care, support, and supervision to residents in a community residence setting.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including meal preparation, hygiene, medication reminders, and household responsibilities.
• Support residents in developing independent living and social skills.
• Assist with community integration, including transportation to appointments and activities when required.
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes in accordance with program and regulatory requirements.
• Support implementation of service plans by reinforcing goals related to resident’s personal development.
• Respond to emergencies, behavioral issues, or crises using appropriate de-escalation techniques and agency protocols
• Assist with or monitor medication administration in accordance with agency policies and certification requirements
• Follow all agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings, support recreational and skill-building activities, and assist with the intake or orientation of new residents when needed
• Help maintain a safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented environment.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team to support resident care plans.

Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred
• Experience working with individuals with mental health or behavioral health needs preferred
• Valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record required
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

Pre-Employment Requirements
Employment with CEC Healthcare is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks in accordance with regulations from the New York State Office of Mental Health. This may include:
• Criminal background check
• Review of the Justice Center Staff Exclusion List (SEL) and other Federal and State exclusionary lists
• Additional screening as required for OMH-licensed programs
