Mill Neck Family of Organizations is seeking a compassionate and motivated Day Habilitation Specialist to provide training, skill development, and community support for Deaf and developmentally disabled adults across Long Island. What You’ll Do:
Provide direct support and skill development to Deaf and developmentally disabled adults.
Transport individuals safely to and from their residence, day habilitation site, and volunteer/community locations using agency vehicles.
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) to promote independence.
Implement individual staff action plans, track progress, and document outcomes.
Lead group sessions to teach practical skills for community participation.
Write daily and monthly case notes to ensure compliance with Life Plan goals.
Attend Life Plan and team meetings to support individual success.
Ensure a safe and respectful environment while supervising individuals at all times.
Report incidents or suspected abuse as required by law.
What You’ll Bring:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) – required.
A clean and valid New York State Driver’s License.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to document accurately.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other basic technology.
Ability to build rapport and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Education: Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Experience: At least 1 year providing direct support to adults with developmental disabilities.
CPR, First Aid, and SCIP-R training (or willingness to obtain).
